Baking Bread

Round I: Saturday, 2:05 p.m. EDT    Round II: Sunday, 4:05 a.m. EDT

What's more Ultima than baking bread? Specifically, we'll be making the Silver Serpent shaped Britannian Table Bread that was made during the Shroud of the Avatar Kickstarter Celebration and also mailed to Portalarium. I chose this bread because it's simple enough for everyone to make, even with zero baking experience. :)

To particpate, gather the following ingredients:
(metric conversions may not be wholly accurate, if you're unsure, please double check my calculations)

• 2 C all-purpose flour (240 g)
• 1 C bread flour (or all-purpose flour, if you do not have bread flour) (120 g)
• 1 tsp dry yeast (regular, not rapid-rise or "bread machine" yeast) (2.8 g)
• 1 tsp salt (5.7 g)
• 1/8 C sugar (30 g)
• 1 C warm milk (237 mL)
• 2 Tbsp butter, melted (9.5 g)
• 1/4 - 1/2 C lukewarm water (59 - 119 mL)

Come to the event to learn what to do with them! We will be baking bread twice during the Telethon. Each round of bread baking is divided into four parts:

• Initial mixing/kneading (35 min. + 90 min. rising)
• Shaping the dough (30 min. + 60 min. rising)
• Baking (10 min. + 45 min. baking)
• Cooling (5 min.)

Anyone who joins the hangout and bakes with us will get a prize. If the hangout is full, send a pic of your finished bread to join@hearthofbritannia.com and you'll get a prize too!

Fanfiction Spotlight

Have you ever written anything about or inspired by Ultima? Did you participate in the SotA Underworld Fanfiction? If so, come share it! There are two Fanfiction Spotlights during the Telethon, each one with three available slots. Anyone who participates in the Spotlight gets a prize, anyone who does it in costume gets a better prize, and the winner (by votes) gets the best prize. :)

Music Conservatory

If you sing or play an instrument, this is the place for you. Come share your talents and play something from Ultima or something Ultima inspired. There are two Music Conservatories during the Telethon, each one with four available slots. Anyone who participates in the Conservatory gets a prize, anyone who does it in costume gets a better prize, and the winner (by votes) gets the best prize. :)

Pen of the Hearth

Inspired by Pen of the Avatar, Pen of the Hearth aims to recreate the magic made during Stephen Daniele's excellent segments. Our goal for the two rounds of Pen of the Hearth is to create a design for The Heath of Britannia. Why? Just watch...


Your host, Rustic Dragon, will be sketching while your co-host, David Peters whips it up in 3D. Additionally, we'll be joined during Round 1 by the man himself, Stephen Daniele, Lead Concept Artist for Shroud of the Avatar! Input from the community is welcome.
